My final year Pilot Collection at Central Saint Martins: Embellished Femininity
Consisting of a statement earring, a cocktail ring and bracelet; all made from recycled copper sheet and wire, with fresh water pearls
This collection focuses on hyper-femininity, drawing inspiration from Roman and
Greek mythology and sculpture, more specifically Aphrodite and Venus, and how
they epitomise these womanly ideals. I used traditional jewellery techniques such as:
chasing, forging, forming, and sandblasting the metal to replicate the softness and
divine, yet unattainable, beauty found in the depictions of the goddesses. The pieces
work synchronously with the body, possessing an almost liminal quality between the
object and the body, in an effort to emphasise the internal and external femininity of
the wearer.
