MAIR EDWARDS WILLIAMS

I am a 22-year-old jewellery designer from London, currently in my final year at Central Saint Martins, where I am pursuing my passion for jewellery design at a degree level. My work focuses on using the body, predominantly the female body, as its medium and this translates into large-scale, fine jewellery/fashion jewellery - mostly in the form of bodices and torso pieces. I incorporate various traditional goldsmithing techniques and materials, but I also thrive when experimenting and furthering the definition of what jewellery can be made from - such as through the use of unconventional jewellery materials like latex. I am eager to apply my creativity, craftsmanship, and collaboration skills to create unique and meaningful pieces of jewellery that reflect my vision and values.
I recently took part in my Diploma in Professional Studies, where I spent a year at various placements. These included working for Shaun Leane, Christina Oswin and Chris Habana. Throughout the duration of my placements, I learnt about the numerous facets that make up the jewellery and fashion industry, I immersed myself within it and even moved to New York for 6 months. These invaluable experiences spanned from aiding in sales and displays, gaining further specialised goldsmithing skills and a deeper understanding of sustainability within my practice, as well as exhibiting a piece I co-designed and made for the Met Gala.
If you would like a more in-depth description of my skills and experience, my CV is available upon request.
