Forged polished copper, gold leaf and tooth floss

The inspiration behind this piece derives from a project about finding repetition in everyday life; whether that be in the form of our daily habits, a sequence of shapes or colours we notice, etc.
I chose to use teeth as my inspiration because its a beginning point to the start and end of the day - brushing our teeth in the morning as we begin the day, yet also as one of the last things most people do before they sleep. What’s more, teeth are such an innately primal thing that we utilise every single day - such as that for smiling and eating. Also, the formation of our teeth is repeated for every human and the cycles that come with it, like our baby teeth falling out. Teeth are a point of similarity that is shared amongst everyone on earth, yet this becomes lost to the daily, repeated routine.
